Joe McKay speaks at the Festival's evening reception, 2012.

McKay is a digital media artist and was co-director and curator of the Festival's art program in 2011 and 2012.

McKay’s work is a willfully hands-on mash-up of technology, utilizing physical computing, coding, game design and strategies culled from hacking. His work will be included in an upcoming exhibition at MOMA and has been shown online at Rhizome and in physical venues such as Arthouse, the Berkeley Art Museum, Foxy Productions, New York, La Casa Encendida, Madrid, the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw and many other national and international exhibition spaces. He received his MFA from UC Berkeley, his BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and is an alum of the Whitney Independent Study Program. He lives in Beacon, New York and is an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Purchase.
